Some clown has apparently provided you with a link to this page, instead of our home page. In addition to what you'll find here, we strongly encourage you to learn more FACTS about your "school." We've created a new page where you'll find TRUE information about Capella. Be sure to stay around for awhile and:

  • Discover how Capella University literally hires and retains charlatans, such as Diane Stottlemyer, who have bought and used bogus degrees from diploma mills. Stottlemyer is at the very core of the lawsuit against Capella University.

Especially when dealing with a diploma mill like Capella University that is run by a bunch of jerks and liars! (We define "diploma mill" as - Any institution of higher learning that bilks exorbitant fees for courses taught by faculty [like charlatan Diane Stottlemyer] who have also purchased their diplomas). A diploma mill can also be a rich source for recruiting new faculty members to teach at Capella"

What is the standard size of a graduate-level course at Capella University?

    • According to Diane Stottlemyer, the Capella University instructor who bought her "degrees" from a diploma mill, the standard size of a Capella University graduate class is twenty (20)!

Why are Capella's class sizes so big?

    • They're big so that instructors, such as Diane Stottlemyer can get paid more. According to the report that Capella University just filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, "instructors" (competent and incompetent) are paid using the unethical (but legal) practice of paying them to keep students in their classes. That way, Diane Stottlemyer and others who bought their "degrees" can earn as much as possible. The Security and Exchange Commission Report (that was created by Capella University) states:

 

"We engage our adjunct faculty on a course-by-course basis. Adjunct faculty are compensated a fixed amount per learner (which varies depending on course load and learner related activities), and a stipend to cover a portion of their preparation costs."

Employment Agreements
Michael J. Offerman, Ed.D.
      On April 17, 2001, we entered into a letter agreement with Michael Offerman, pursuant to which Dr. Offerman agreed to serve as our Senior Vice President and President and Chief Executive Officer of Capella University. This agreement was amended on November 10, 2003, at which time Dr. Offerman agreed to assume certain additional responsibilities related to these positions. Pursuant to the terms of the amended agreement, Dr. Offerman received, among other things, (1) an annual base salary of $240,000, (2) an annual incentive compensation award targeted at 40% of base salary, and (3) options to purchase 75,000 shares of our common stock at an exercise price of $14.25 per share, 56,250 shares of which have vested and 18,750 shares of which will vest on June 11, 2005, subject to acceleration in certain situations. Dr. Offerman is subject to a confidentiality and non-compete agreement. In the event that Dr. Offerman’s employment terminates involuntarily for any reason other than for cause, he will be entitled to certain severance benefits, including (1) 12 months severance pay if termination occurs in the first 12 months, (2) six months severance pay if termination occurs after the first year of employment and (3) outplacement assistance. If Dr. Offerman is unable to find employment due to the restrictions of the confidentiality and non-compete agreement, Dr. Offerman will be entitled to a monthly severance benefit equal to the lesser of 12 months or the time which it takes to secure suitable employment, provided that in no event will such severance entitlement be less than six months.
